Billionaire Kidnapper Evans angered by What his Wife is Saying
Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (aka Evans), has expressed anger with the way his wife has been talking about life in their family. His wife, Uchenna Precious Onwuamadike, who spoke recently from her hide out in Ghana said among other things that she never knew her husband was a kidnapper, adding that she never got any big money from him. However reacting to his wife statement, Evans said: “About my wife, I am not happy with the story that she is telling, but, let’s leave the matter like that.” Evans also explained why he left his enclave at Jakande Estate, for Igando, Lagos.
Evans, who took detectives to his enclave at Green Street, Jakande Estate, said: “I was using the place as the detention camp, where I used to keep my victims. The place was where I kept a business mogul, Udoji, and five others. I collected millions from them, but I can’t remember how much.
“If you are talking about Udoji, I collected $1 million. Emesbose paid $300 while another person I can remember, paid $250. Well, people are just blowing things out of proportion. They said I have many camps, no, I only have three. One is what you are seeing in Jakande, another is at Gowon Estate and the one in Igando. The house in Jakande, I rented it N750,000 for a year. I rented it in 2010. For the Igando house, I rented it for N1 million.
“I kept just two victims in the house. Chief Umeh and Chief Donatus Duru who, escaped from the house. We collected 23 million euros from the family. Actually, we were demanding for 300 million euros. We were expecting the balance, but since the family did not bring it I told my boys to release him, but they kept holding him. I won’t tell you lies, I was shocked when my boys called that Duru escaped from our camp. It was a sad day.
“Are you still on Jakande Estate? You see, the place was a good location for business, but I had to leave that place as soon as I noticed that people were becoming suspicious. It was from there that I rented the apartment at Igando. If I had known, I would have been using the place.See what has happened to me at Igando?
“Why should I lie? Everything I say is real. The police are treating me well. Inmates in the cell are also friendly with me. I have no reasons to lie. What has happened has happened. About my wife, I am not happy with the story that she is telling, but, let’s leave the matter like that. Yes, I read the Bible. Well, what else do you expect me to do? I can’t blame anyone for my woes. I am the cause of my problems and I believe that I am reaping what I sowed. If I regain freedom, I will be the most grateful person on earth and I will fight against kidnapping.”
Detectives, during interrogation, had discovered that Evans still had another enclave at Jakande Estate and decided to visit the place.
Evans took detectives to the place amid tight security.
A senior police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “it was very necessary that we went for on-the-spot assessment. We visited the enclave.Evans took us round the building but we did not recover arms and ammunition.
“We went there amid tight security because of the nature of the case. It is a big issue and we have to protect him and our job too. What will people say if Evans escapes under our care?
“We also visited his detention camp at Igando. We have been there before and we recovered cache of arms and ammunition, but we have to visit again to know the situation of the area.”
Residents of Jakande Estate were shocked to hear that Evans was doing his nefarious business in their area.
Samson Ojehume told Daily Sun that it was very difficult to believe the story until the police arrived in company with him: “This is a serious issue because we have been reading about Evans in the newspapers and watching him on television, but we did not know he was committing crime in our area. I am still in shock.”
A senior police officer in the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team said: “We are still investigating. Any information we get from Evans will be properly investigated. We may not tell you why we visited the two places but it was of a great importance that we visited. more facts keep coming on the issue.”
