There was confusion bulk passing among the various agencies at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, (MMA) , Lagos over the alleged dumping of a copse at airport tarmac by Kenya Airways flight yesterday.
Sources disclosed that the unattended copse caused scare as airport workers became frightened at the manner it was carelessly abandoned.
“It was strange that such a thing could happen and the airline would be allowed to go without any documentation and investigation” said a top management staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria,( FAAN)who declined to allow his name in prints.
This was on the heels of the claim by the Federal Ministry of Health that the Port Health officials have been adequately sensitised and mobilized to ward off any further ebola outbreak in the country.
Professor Isaac Adewole, Health Minister had given the assurance last week saying that screening of international passengers was still going on at the airports.
Coincidentally it was the same airport (MMA) that the man (Sawyer) who brought the virus into the country in 2014 entered Nigeria.
Meanwhile internal probe is said to have commence in FAAN to determine the culpability of the officials on duty for the perceived lapses that led to the abandoning of the corpse for 48 hours. Details later
