Ex-President Jonathan congratulates Anyaoku at 85
Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has felicitated with elder statesman and former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Chief Chukwumeka Anyaoku on the occasion of his 85th birthday, describing the octogenarian as a national icon and leading voice for good governance and national development.
A statement by Dr. Jonathan’s media adviser Ikechukwu Eze said the ex-President made this known in a message of goodwill to the elder statesman in which he also highlighted Chief Anyaoku’s achievements as an international public servant.
The goodwill message reads:
“I write to most sincerely felicitate with you and your family on your 85th birthday.
“God Almighty has blessed you with the grace of long life and good health in line with your outstanding accomplishments and exceptional sense of patriotism and loyalty to your fatherland.
“As an international public servant you flew the flag of our nation so high that Nigeria’s pride of place in the comity of nations became well defined. You made your mark on the global scale as a distinguished technocrat whose footprints as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations have remained outstanding.
Even as an octogenarian, you have continued to manifest a dogged commitment and dedication to national development by readily offering yourself in the service of our great nation. Nigerians will continue to celebrate you as a national icon and elder statesman whose voice resonates for equity and good governance.”
