Four UK police officers who laughed at rape victim sacked
Four police officers have been sacked for laughing at a woman who reported she was raped.
The woman had reported the horrendous assault, which she said included anal rape and a man urinating on her.
She later received a nine-minute call to her mobile, during which she could hear one officer reading her statement while other officers were laughing and making ‘disgusting and immoral’ comments and questioning her account.
The victim said she overheard officers making comments including ‘he proper stuck it up her’.
Bedfordshire Police were investigating the woman who had been accused of an assault and they had access to her rape allegation made to Northamptonshire Police.
The officers, Robin Denton, Matthew Neild, Todd Mills and Deanna Waite were not directly involved in the investigation into the alleged rape and all were suspended immediately.
Police constable Neild was also found to have breached the standard of professional behaviour concerning confidentiality.
