Imo Commissioner for happiness now unhappy as she spends time fighting critics
The new Commissioner for Happiness in Nigeria’s Imo State,Mrs. Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha) has suddenly become a very angry and unhappy woman, just two days after her appointment into the ministry newly created to make Imo People happy.
Since she was appointed by her brother, she has been angrily defending her new job from many critics and social media enthusiasts who believe her new ministry has nothing to offer.
But she thinks otherwise. Yesterday she took to her twitter account to abuse Nigerians many of who she accused of being ignorance in a poorly written English.
Reno Omokri, former social media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said of her angry responses: “Is Rochas’ sister commissioner for happiness or commissioner for ANGER? Her comments since her appointment projects RAGE rather than joy. Perhaps she should have been made Imo stars commissioner for DEFENSE?”
Mrs Ololo in an interview with BBC Africa challenged Nigerians condemning Gov. Okorocha , saying the ministry was created to cater for welfare of Imo residents.
She said “Happiness can mean anything to anybody; for some people, happiness means having food on their table, some it’s about schools, some about the roads, some it’s about security
“Here in Imo we have free education, this policy makes people happy by paying for children’s school fees. So that is the policy of happiness and that is part of the ministry of happiness.”
When asked why Okorocha appointed his sister, she added “Okorocha did not create the ministry because I am his sister.
Ololo, on her twitter handle @MrsOgechiOlolo which she joined in December, in response to series of criticism on her appointment expressed surprised at the `outbusts of young Nigerians’ on Okorocha for such an appointment.
“Let me educate Nigerians on this, for those lacking ignorance. United Arab Emirates has ministers of happiness and they are ahead of us.
“I am truly surprised by the outbursts of young Nigerians on his excellency; Dr Rochas Okorocha. If you don’t understand something, keep quiet, read and research. Make good use of your senses.”
The Commissioner said the mandate of her office includes ensuring citizens of Imo state remain happy despite the economic meltdown and Biafran fiasco. Others include ensuring couples in Imo state have a reduced divorce rate and better fulfilled marriages and cater to welfare for the average Imo indigene.
