PDP Group accuses Bayelsa commissioner Iworiso-Markson of sponsoring attacks on Jonathan, Ogbia leaders
Bayelsa State PDP stakeholders Forum, have condemned the latest campaign of calumny, and allegation of anti-party activities, leveled against former President Goodluck Jonathan, and some leaders of the party, in Ogbia Local government areas of Bayelsa State, by a group called Ogbia PDP Renaissance group, describing it as uncomplimentary, and unbecoming of any noble indigene of Bayelsa State, just as it accused the Bayelsa Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, of being the mastermind of the campaign.
Reacting to a media reports by the Ogbia PDP Renaissance, where it accused former President Goodluck Jonathan, a prominent traditional ruler, King A.J Turner, and the lawmaker representing Ogbia constituency one in the state Assembly, Mietama Obodor of engaging in anti-party activities, the Bayelsa State PDP stakeholder describes the allegation as baseless, unfounded and mischievous, as it appealed to Dr Jonathan, King AJ Turner and other, not join issues with those behind the move, so as to avoid further division in the party.
The group in a statement, issued and signed by its Chairman, Chief George Amaibi noted that accusations against “these noble leaders of the Ogbia Kingdom”, is a betrayal of trust and a desperate move by those, who have no cultural root’s connection, to Ogbia kingdom, to denigrate, the sacrifices of Dr. Jonathan, King Turner and other leaders, to Ogbia, over the years.
“It is disheartening, that despite the commitment of former President Goodluck Jonathan, and other Ogbia leaders, targeted by the self styled Ogbia PDP Renaissance, and it’s sponsor, to the unity of the PDP in Bayelsa State and beyond, these elements could resort to such campaign of calumny insult on their persons, by misrepresentating facts of issues arising from the recently concluded party primaries, in an attempt to ridicule them, for cheap political reason, by Iworiso-Markson, who has no visible antecedent nor contribution, to the socio-political and economic development of ogbia and Bayelsa as a whole.”
“We therefore wish to use this medium to appeal to those, who are hell bent on disintegrating our party in Bayelsa State, to desist from such ignoble act, and stop dragging the good names of our respected leaders, into mud.” the statement stated.
