Organisation for Global Youth Peace Empowerment and Development Initiative (OGYPEDI) has said that it has concluded plans to drag Arewa youth groups to court over the quit notice threat issued to the Igbo.
The group made this known yesterday at a media briefing with some journalists and bloggers in Lagos.
The group’s National Coordinator, Mr. Japhet Omene, who disclosed this, pointed out that the intention of the group was borne out of the organisation’s concern for peace, unity, and safety of Nigerians irrespective of tribal affiliations.
speaking further, Omene said the threat was unconstitutional, adding that it contravened section 41-(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which gave every citizen of Nigeria the right to reside in any part of the country.
He also described the threat as a criminal offence, which should not be treated with sentiments.
Also, the National Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr. Michael Ipheghe called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, curtail the high level of youth unemployment in the country.
