Scam Alert: GEJ Foundation disclaims publication on Jonathan’s entrepreneurship scheme

The management of the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Foundation has disclaimed an online publication claiming that a non-governmental organization allegedly founded by the former President was giving out N1.5M to budding entrepreneurs, describing it as a scam.

The publication by a website identified as infonaij.com had in an advertorial entitled ‘APPLY NOW!!! Goodluck Jonathan giving out N1.5 Million if you have Business Idea’, claimed that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan recently launched an NGO/Foundation called YOUR IDEA to serve as a medium to reach out to all young youths in Africa.

In disclaiming the alleged entrepreneurship scheme, Jonathan’s office in a statement in Abuja emphasized that neither the former President nor the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation has any links with the purported ‘Your Idea Foundation’, and advised Nigerians and other Africans to beware of scammers to avoid being defrauded of their hard earned money.

The statement further reads: “Disclaimer: Our notice has just been drawn to an online publication stating that the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation is giving out the sum of 1.5 Million Naira as grants for business ideas.

“We want to make it clear that this information did not emanate from GEJ Foundation and we are not at the moment, accepting grants applications.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the former President did not establish any other foundation outside the GEJ Foundation.

“All information regarding our programmes will be communicated through the Foundation’s official website (http://www.gejfoundation.org) and social media pages.”
